Description
This is a rare mastodon tooth find in perfect conditions. You can clearly see the grinding on the ridges. There is also part of the gum fossilised. The roots of the molar are missing but it shows well the previous position. Mastodon molars were low-crowned and fairly small and had three or four prominent transverse ridges of enamel. Mastodons have fewer ridges on their molar teeth than elephants and the ridges are also less elevated.
Size: 10.5 x 6.8 x 5.6 cm.
Location: Min Bu, Magway Division, Myanmar.
